Royal Spotlight: Meet Mary
Royal Spotlight: Meet Mary Baker at The Royal Suites
At The Royal Suites, our community is built on connection, comfort, and the people who call it home. We are doing a Royal Spotlight which introduces you to one of our residents and shares what makes life in our 55yr + luxury apartments so special.
For April, we’re delighted to introduce Mary Baker.
👋 Meet Mary Baker
Mary Baker has been part of The Royal Suites community for four years, celebrating this milestone in June 2026. Known for her kindness and helpfulness, Mary plays an important role in welcoming new tenants. She meets residents soon after they move in, often being one of the first friendly faces they get to know. She also maintains the community phone list, making it easy for residents to connect with one another.
At 89, Mary continues to inspire others by leading a weekly line dancing class, staying active and bringing energy and joy to the community.
🏡 Inside Mary’s Suite
Mary’s suite is a perfect reflection of her personality — comfortable, inviting, and uniquely hers. From the painted chair that perfectly matches her walls — a piece rich with history from her wedding gown store days, when it was once pink — to the bright, beautiful furniture that feels as though the space was designed around it, her home tells a story.
Thoughtfully laid out to support independent living, Mary’s suite is not just functional — it truly feels like home.

🎉 Staying Active & Connected
One of the things Mary loves most about living at The Royal Suites is the opportunity to stay active and socially connected. You’ll often find her enjoying:
• Happy Hours with live entertainment
• Fine Dining — a monthly themed dinner featuring a choice of two entrées, served restaurant-style
• Strength Training — three times a week with Patti Easter
From group activities and special events to spontaneous conversations with neighbours, The Royal Suites community makes it easy to stay engaged and connected every day. Tenants can be involved as much or as little as they like, making it easy to find a rhythm that suits their lifestyle.
Mary herself embraces that spirit of involvement—she organizes Euchre games in the lounge three nights a week and even selects and hosts the Saturday night movies for fellow tenants.
💬 What Mary Loves Most About The Royal Suites
When asked what makes The Royal Suites feel like home, Mary shared that it’s the friendly people and the kind, helpful staff. As her life began to change, Mary realized she wanted to downsize and move to Brockville, knowing she no longer wanted the responsibility of maintaining her home. Her decision to move to The Royal Suites came after visiting a friend who already lived there—she was impressed by her friend’s suite and loved the warm, welcoming feeling of the building.
👑 Royal Living, Every Day
Stories like Mary’s highlight what makes The Royal Suites more than just a place to live. With beautifully designed suites, engaging lifestyle opportunities, and a strong sense of community, our tenants enjoy a lifestyle that supports independence, comfort, and belonging.
